Dear friends and colleagues,
Nina Schwenk and Sarah Benczik will be retiring from the Destination Imagination Board or Trustees this month, with Sarah retiring effective May 1, 2019 and Nina retiring effective May 31, 2019. Nina and Sarah have given us several years of outstanding leadership and accomplishment, and we will miss their inspiration and dedication to Destination Imagination programming as DI Board of Trustees members.
Under their guidance, we were able to implement several changes, including a new business plan, a youth protection policy through background checks for Global Finals volunteers, a fixed and affordable cost for Team Numbers, and several changes to our annual Global Finals event, ranging from a new event location to fee structures.
Our mission hasn’t changed—and won’t change with the onboarding of new Board of Trustees members. We are indebted to Nina and Sarah for greatly improving our ability to achieve that mission by bringing about a significant evolution for our organization’s leadership and work.
Please join us in wishing Nina and Sarah well in their retirement from our Board of Trustees—and thank you, on behalf of all of us, for all you do in helping students to express their creativity, problem solve in teams, and learn the skills necessary to be successful in their future careers and beyond.
Sincerely,
Michele Tuck-Ponder
Destination Imagination Executive Director
