Dear DI Family,
Recently, someone shared a video with me that made me chuckle. It was about all the ads that are using buzzwords and music to go along with the mood surrounding the current Covid19 situation. Clearly, corporate America is reaching out to say “We are in this together.”
I share that sentiment. Despite our disappointment with the cancellation of tournaments and Global Finals in Kansas City, the DI community has not wavered in its support of each other and the DI organization.
On our end, Destination Imagination, Inc. is committed to making every effort to keep you and our kids engaged with resources like free Instant Challenges and our brand new virtual Global Finals celebration to keep you and the rest of the DI community learning and creating together. Now, more than ever, young people need the skills that DI fosters. You know that better than anyone.
We are optimistic about DI’s future and what the year ahead will reveal: a chance to explore new ways of connecting and convening online, a deepened commitment to expanding creative learning to new audiences in different ways, establishing partnership and alliance with other creative education organizations, and developing new and meaningful pathways for the community to connect and collaborate, especially during the coronavirus (COVID-19).
In support of these efforts, we are asking you to share the gift of creativity. On May 5, DI is participating in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity to support communities and nonprofits around the world. If you are able, you can join us by making a donation of any amount to the fundraiser we share on our Facebook page.
Financial challenges aside, Since our earliest days, DI has always been, first and foremost, a community. We will tackle this challenge the same way humans across the globe are doing right now — by drawing strength and inspiration from one another.
Because we are in this together.
Stay Healthy. Stay Creative.
Michele
