Here’s what you need to know as you gear up for your tournament:

Your Tournament Team is Cheering You On!

Every tournament is a team effort, with dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to create a day filled with fun, creativity, and celebration of your hard work. Your Tournament Team includes Tournament Directors, Challenge Masters, Appraisers, Team Managers, parents, and others committed to making the event memorable. While things might not always go perfectly, remember that everyone is rooting for you and your team to have an amazing experience.

Feedback That Fuels Your Creativity

Tournaments are a fantastic opportunity to showcase your Challenge solution and receive thoughtful feedback from Appraisers. These trained volunteers are excited to see your ideas come to life, ask questions about your process, and reward creativity in all of its forms. They’re here to ensure scoring is fair and to make sure every team is awarded as many points as they have earned. Remember, they’re excited to see what you’ve made!

Understanding Scores and Appeals

Sometimes, you might notice a score or deduction that doesn’t align with your expectations. While Appraisers are trained to be thorough and fair, mistakes can happen. Here’s what to do:

  • For deductions or objective scores: You can request clarification or appeal by speaking with the Head Appraiser or Challenge Master.
  • If your team is still unhappy with the resolution: You can request a Dialogue. This process involves a review by tournament officials to ensure all concerns have been addressed appropriately. For more details about the Dialogue process, refer to the Rules of the Road.
