Whether you’re an educator or a parent, you want your kids to thrive. But the disparities in access to high-quality, engaging educational opportunities can cause significant barriers for underserved youth, including their emotional, social and intellectual development.
That’s why Destination Imagination (DI) and Lumen Technologies have teamed up to create a brand-new program called The imagineXperience, designed to inspire and equip our most vulnerable youth with the skills they need to succeed in school, their future careers and beyond.
Starting this spring, K-12 students living in underserved communities in the U.S. and around the world will have the opportunity to explore their own innate curiosity and engage with emerging technologies, like Artificial Intelligence (AI), in this one-of-a-kind, project-based digital challenge.
“Destination Imagination couldn’t have asked for a better partner to help us turn this project into a reality, which will expand and scale how DI is able to help underserved students gain the skills they will need for the future of work,” said Michele Tuck-Ponder, executive director of DI. “Through unique and fun educational experiences and challenges, DI unlocks the creative potential within youth to allow them to imagine and innovate in order to build a better world.”
“We’re committed to improving the communities we serve, and education is at the forefront of our focus,” said India Sylvester, chief diversity and inclusion officer, Lumen Technologies. “Technology is always evolving. We’re proud to partner with Destination Imagination on this project to help expose students to new ideas, concepts and the changing technology that shapes our world.”
Thanks to the generous support of our partner, Lumen, the program covers all registration fees, online training and a stipend of $500 US dollars per team for qualified organizations.
