Attending a Destination Imagination (DI) tournament is an exciting adventure filled with creativity and teamwork. Whether it’s your first tournament or you’re a seasoned volunteer, planning ahead is key to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. To help you prepare, we’ve created a variety of resources, including comprehensive Event Guides and accessibility support. Here’s everything you need to know about utilizing these tools for your local tournaments.

What Are Event Guides?
Event Guides, sometimes called access, accessibility, or visiting guides, are essential resources designed to help you navigate your tournament day with ease. These guides may provide detailed information, including:

  • Tournament schedules and maps
  • Locations of restrooms, first aid, and assistance stations
  • Scheduled activities

Event Guides ensure you and your team are ready for a big and busy event!

Why Use an Event Guide?
Event Guides are valuable tools for everyone, whether you’re new to DI or a returning participant.

  • For first-time attendees: Learn what to expect and help your team and spectators feel prepared.
  • For returning teams: Easily direct parents, guardians, and visitors during the event.
  • For those with access needs: Preview how the venue accommodates disabilities or chronic illnesses and find ways to get additional assistance.

Where to Find Your Event Guide
Team Managers can access their Event Guides through the Resource Area. Simply log in to your dashboard and scroll to your tournament listings. Each listing includes a link to the Event Guide, labeled “Click here to View Event Guide.”

Event Guides are made available about two weeks before a tournament. If you don’t see yours or have trouble accessing it, please reach out to your Regional or Affiliate Director.

Requesting Accommodations for Presentations

Destination Imagination is committed to providing accommodations for participants with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or other types of access needs. To request an accommodation regarding your team’s needs for Team Challenge or Instant Challenge at their tournament, please fill out this form. Our Educational Experiences team will review your request and get back to you within 3-5 business days.

To request an accommodation that is not related to a team’s Presentation, please consult your local Event Guide and/or contact your Regional or Affiliate Director.
