Welcome to a brand-new season of Destination Imagination (DI)! Your team is about to embark on an incredible journey together and we are so excited to see what you will learn and create over the next several months.
One of the first things you will do as a DI team is choose a Team Challenge to solve. This may sound like an easy task, but with six Challenges to choose from (and varying interests and opinions), it can be a difficult decision for teams.
At your first team meeting, review our Challenge Previews. This will give your team members a brief overview of each Team Challenge, including some of the themes and components for each one.
Next, download the full Team Challenges from the Resource Area and review them as a team. (Please note that our Team Challenges can only be downloaded by the Team Number purchaser or by a Team Manager who has cleared a background check and been assigned to their team in the Resource Area.) This will give your team members a much more in-depth look at what they’ll need to accomplish, but can also help them form a stronger connection with one or two of the Challenges.
If your team is still having trouble agreeing on a Challenge to solve, have them complete our Team Interest Inventory survey, located in our Roadmap resource (available in the Resource Area).
If your team still cannot decide which Challenge to select because of a tie, you can use the Paired Choice Analysis Worksheet in Roadmap. This activity allows your team members to turn your individual Challenge preferences into numerical values. It will also help take the emotion out of choosing a Challenge because whichever Challenge receives the most points, wins!
Once your team selects a Challenge, it’s time to start generating some ideas—and we cannot wait to see what you come up with!
